  8.  There are some major changes in version 2 that you will need to be aware of.
  9. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  10.  If you are upgrading from v1.x, then you MUST run the UPGRADE.EXE program
  11.  after installation is complete! This will convert your BBS.DAT file to the
  12.  new format used by v2.x
  13. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  14.  For quick installation instructions, read the SETUP.TXT file. It is short
  15.  and sweet! ;)
  16. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  18.  1) The SYSOP.CFG file is no longer used. It has been replaced by a data file
  19.     which is read from faster, and easier to manipulate in order for the door
  20.     to work faster. Therefore you MUST run the new GBsetup program after the
  21.     installation.
  22.  
  23.  2) One line must be added to your current door config file(s). It will
  24.     reflect the COM port of the modem that node is on. This is so the door
  25.     knows where to send the file when a caller downloads a list. Refer to
  26.     GBLIST.DOC after installation for details.
  27.  
  28.  3) The GOODBYE.EXE file has been renamed to GBLIST.EXE for clarity. So any
  29.     references in your batch files to GOODBYE.EXE must be changed to
  30.     GBLIST.EXE.
  31.  
  32.  4) Full documentation for the door will be installed during the
  33.     installation. If the INSTALL.BAT file does not work for you, then read
  34.     the bottom section, "Manual Installation Instructions" for instructions
  35.     on how to install the door manually.

  38.  <<v2.2 Major Change>>
  39.  
  40.     As of v2.2, the GB Setup program has been rewritten to be easier to
  41.     setup your node config files. Please keep in mind that the "Node Setup"
  42.     option saves node config files to the default file names of NODE#.CFG
  43.     where # is the node number of the config file. For example, NODE1.CFG
  44.     for node 1, NODE4.CFG for node 4, etc. You must reflect this change
  45.     in your batch file(s) that run the door from your BBS to read similiar
  46.     to this,
  47.             GBLIST NODE1.CFG
  48.     replacing NODE1.CFG with the proper config file name to use for each
  49.     node. If you have node ID variables in memory, you may refer to those
  50.     also. For example, Wildcat! SysOps who use the WCNODEID variable can
  51.     call the door with only one batch file instead of using separate batch
  52.     files for each node like this,
  53.                                   GBLIST NODE%WCNODEID%.CFG

  57.   New Install
  58.  ─────────────
  59.  1) Create a directory to hold the door, and move the INSTALL.BAT &
  60.     FILES.ZIP  files to this new directory. Change to the new directory,
  61.     and run the INSTALL.BAT file.
  62.  
  63.  2) INSTALL.BAT will automatically load GBsetup after the installation.
  64.     Please fill in all info in all areas of GBsetup!
  65.  
  66.  3) Refer to the GBLIST.DOC file which will be located in your GBlist
  67.     directory after the installation for further details on setup.

  70.   Upgrading
  71.  ───────────
  72.  1) Move the FILES.ZIP & INSTALL.BAT files to your current GBlist directory.
  73.  
  74.  2) Change to your GBlist directory, and run INSTALL.BAT. INSTALL will load
  75.     GBsetup after the installation. Please fill in all areas of the GBsetup
  76.     program!
  77.  
  78.  3) Your current BBS.DAT file will be moved to the new subdirectory named
  79.     DATA. This is also where your new configuration file (GBLIST.DAT) will
  80.     be held, and your SECURITY.DAT file will be held (SECURITY.DAT will only
  81.     exist if you restrict any security levels).

  83.  4) Edit your current .BAT files used for running the door from your BBS to
  84.     reflect the name of the new .EXE, GBLIST.EXE instead of GOODBYE.EXE.

  86.  5) Edit your current door configuration files, and add one line to the
  87.     bottom, the number of the COM port that that node is used for. This can
  88.     either be done manually, or from within GBsetup using the "Node Setup"
  89.     option from the main menu.

  91.  6) Refer to the GBLIST.DOC file for further details. GBLIST.DOC will reside
  92.     in your home GBlist directory after installation.

  101.  1) Create a directory to hold the GoodBye List Door program.
  102.  
  103.  2) Move (or copy) the FILES.ZIP file to this new directory.
  104.  
  105.  3) Change to the new GoodBye List Door directory, and rename the FILES.ZIP
  106.     file to FILES.EXE.
  107.  
  108.  4) Execute the FILES.EXE file to unpack all the program files using the
  109.     -d -o options. Example, FILES -D -O
  110.  
  111.  5) You can delete the FILES.EXE archive if you wish after executing it,
  112.     you will not need it anymore.
  113.  
  114.  6) Run the GBsetup program to setup the door. Make sure you run the
  115.     "Node Setup" option to setup all of your nodes.

  118.   Upgrading
  119.  ───────────
  120.  1) Follow the exact same instructions as a new install, only using your
  121.     current GoodBye List Door directory.
  122.  
  123.  2) If you are upgrading from v1.x, then you WILL NEED to run the included
  124.     UPGRADE.EXE program, to convert your BBS.DAT file to the new format.

  126.  3) Run the GB Setup program to setup the door making sure to use the
  127.     "Node Setup" option to setup all of your nodes.
